First of all Mr/Ms Irritated, if you have better things to do with your time than hate LGBT people, please feel free to pursue them instead of trying to preach with your long-winded testimonials. Especially when the usual people who read the message board are gay and think that you are being ignorant bigot. No, it is true that just because you do not like homosexuals doesnt mean that you personally hate them. Hitler didnt personally hate each and every Jewish person he ordered to be killed, but the overall effect of a majority group of people suppressing and disliking a minority for no justified reason, is hatred. I do not hate right wing Christians, but I do strongly dislike many of their views. I can honestly say that I do not hate them because I will never go out of my way to tell them that they are wrong and need to change who they are. There is a distinct difference between just disliking something, and crossing over into hate. That difference is when you try to change the persons behavior, even though it does NOT affect your life. What do you care if my girlfriend and I live together, raise a family and can handle each others funeral arrangements someday? We are doing absolutely nothing to you, our lives do not affect yours. When you try to change homosexuals, that is showing a hatred for a group of people. The bottom line is, when you just dislike something, you ignore it. I personally dislike brussel sprouts. If they are on the dinner table I pretend not to see them, and those who like the brussel spouts can have them. Now if I hated those brussel sprouts, I would be going out of my way to make sure that they did not make it on the table for others to enjoy. I would boycott the farmers who grow them, and hold forums on how brussel sprouts can change their taste. But that would be a waste of my energy and right there is where I have crossed the line between hate and dislike.
