Posted by Darryl Baird This is part of a (long) process of opening up dialogue on our campus related to the original censoring of the hermaphrodite drawing at the LGBT center. The exhibit will feature previous and landmark instances of censorship, dating to earlier centuries, as well as current artwork by students and faculty. We need volunteers to help "sit" the gallery during the open hours to help ensure that future censors cannot easily harm or destroy this art. If you are willing and interested, please send email to(cwaters@umflint.edu) the times you can "sit" the UCEN gallery. We will need people between 9 am and 6 pm Monday the 6th of March through Friday the 10th. You do not need any particular training for this. We would just like warm bodies there who value the first amendment as applied to art as free speech! Let's make the campus a site of free exchange and not miss an opportunity to address and reconfirm our freedoms. I've posted two versions of a flyer in my progdata directory (dbaird): "flyer_sm" is a single half-page flyer and "flyer" is a two-up document on a single letter sized page. Feel free to download and distribute. thanks for your attention, Darryl Baird

FYI: Dear students and interested others,
We are putting on a program concerning art and censorship that will include a panel discussion and exhibit. The dates are March 6-10, with the panel discussion on the 6th from 3-4:30. All are welcome.
Once everyone's availability is established, a grid of times will be put together and we'll get back to you.
