I am also sending to your e-mail address, the story of Polonezköy, which is a small, lovely village close to Istanbul, inhabited by Polish people who came to Istanbul in mid 1800's. After making above mentioned contacts, you can write me if you need any further information. If it is not urgent, I may go to that village to make any investigations for you.

If your great grandfather woked in French Consulate, you can start investigating by them They may keep - I hope they do - records from that time.
