Hi Ness, the name Sinopluoglu means 'the son of the man from Sinop'. The family were most likely NOT in Sinop when they took this surname, but somewhere else, and their Sinop origins distinguished them from others. 'Pakyuz' refers to someone's facial features, it means 'clean, white face'. The family probably had a lighter complexion that others in the community. Hope this helps. Graham
