Posted by John Also,the pump is 5 yrs old, and it's gotten lots of use, with creek and pond water. How often should I figure on rebuilding it, as far as impeller, etc goes?

Hi, I've got a 2.5" Monarch pump with the 12 H.P. Kolhler engine. Right now, I've got just one #70 rainbird running, so I set the rpm down on the engine. However, it seems as though I can't get enough pressure without it running full speed, and then I'd blow lines for sure as it normally runs 8 or 9 birds with no problem. Also, I have about 8' of suction lift. If the pump is running slower than normal, would this affect the suction? It seems as though it's not wanting for water intake, but I can't seem to get more than 35 psi at the pump with it set less than wide open.
