Posted by Ken Our preferred method for watering apples is to use Netafim's Ram (page 22 & 23 in our 2007 catalog). We usually use a 40" emitter spacing... sometimes a 48". This gives us a nice wetted strip down the row of trees that is about 36" to 48" wide, depending on the soil type. Many people will say "but my trees are 10' apart! Why not just install 1 or 2 emitters at each tree?" The answer is simple. We are not watering your trees. We are watering the soil, which will then supply water and nutrients to your trees. That is why we strive to provide a nice even wetted strip. It is a method that has proven effective for thirty years now. Therefore I suggest you try your row using Ram with a 40" spacing. We do have some small rolls (500') in stock in Michigan if you choose to go this route. Once you decide to install the system permanently I am confident this is the way you'll choose to go. Feel free to contract Ron Mihalek at our warehouse in Pennsylvania at 1-800-672-4700. He'll be happy to get you started. --Previous Message-- Link: http://www.trickl-eez.com

Thanks for visiting our site. Though not the fanciest site out there, we do try to keep it informative.
: We have a small orchard that is not exactly
: evenly laid out in an exact grid. We want
: to install a drip irrigation system that can
: be moved. We want to start with one row to
: perfect the system. The trees are primarily
: malus of varying cultivers and of varying
: ages, most > 15 years.
:
: What system of the Netafim line will work
: best? We are attempting to use an organic
: method, so fruitigation is not a high
: priority.
