Posted by Dale (Calgary) on September 7, 2006, 5:24 pm The charity we selected was The Mustard Seed Calgary, which is a non-profit, Christian humanitarian organization that responds compassionately to the needs of the inner-city's less fortunate. I hauled the baggies of coins home and the next evening, two of us had two tumblers going full speed to clean up the coins before rolling. Of course, we killed some time while the tumblers were spinning by sitting in the back yard with a couple of frosty beverages! It seems that the amount of time needed to tumble a load of pennies is about the same as the time required to finish off a cold one!!! Then today, I spent the afternoon sorting and counting and stacking and the end result was . . . If pennies were dollars I really appreciated that some did their own accounting and brought bills - otherwise, I'd probably still be tumbling, counting and rolling. As it was . . . 44 rolls of pennies, There are a few members who didn't make the meeting so I'm hoping to hear from them and top the $500.00 mark for the charity. That would be sweet! Thanks to everyone who brought in their clad. HH Dale
Tuesday, September the 5th was Calgary Metal Detecting Club meeting night and it was time to see what everyone came up with for the charity. We had all agreed at our April meeting that we would donate all of our clad finds from the month of August.
