Posted by scott-devon on August 26, 2006, 9:45 pm Leaving there I hustled South to meet Mike at the lake. He soon joined me, arriving just in time to suffer my gloating as I'd just dug a nice gold coloured ring. He felt it was gold but as it showed no markings I was sure it was brass. We hunted a few hours getting mostly clad, although I did pull another ring. This one a silver band. I also spent 10 minutes trying to get an elusive deep target only to find my dreams of a gold chain shattered when my scoop came up with a rusty bent old screwdriver. Leaving the lake a bit after Mike had I met up with him at Tim Hortons where we were joined by Martin and Pirate Frank, who I haven't seen in ages. The four of us then decided to spend the evening at Gull Lake where all but Mike waterhunted. Mike worked the beach with his Sovereign and WOT combo instead. Targets there are getting very rare but I managed another small silver ring. Martin took honours with a large men's silver ring and Frank took top count with a junker and a very nice old Cameo ring. Home in the dark. Tired but very relaxed and happy. What a great day! Rings, clad, toys, wading and admiring the bikinis and sharing it with friends. What more could a guy want? Here's the day's take... The three rings... And a close up of the gold one, which tested out as 18K and has an amber stone. HH all
I got out early this morning and checked out a spot on my way South to meet Mike for a water hunt. It's one I had a hunch might hold some old coins but unlike my last hunch this one resulted in only a couple of 60's pennies and a 1952S Wheatie plus a toy boat trailer.
