Posted by scott-devon There is no club here and this is all done informally, no prizes or minutes of the meeting etc. It makes it very relaxed as no-one is in charge, no-one has to attend or stay long. Just folks with a shared interest meeting and having a good time.

We've done a few like this in the past. Usually its just an informal thing like this one where we try to pick a handy date and we see who shows up. We've done land hunts in parks, night hunts in the lake and daytime lake hunts. Usually its a lot of fun, and it helps new folks get out and meet other people in the area. In winter we'll do much the same type thing by having coffee meets at a Tim Horton's that is in an industrial area and therefore pretty quiet on a weekend evening. It helps pass the winter and everyone brings in finds and machines etc and we BS for hours.
