The stamping on the fount is a Hindi script, Dietz put that on there for the export market from around 1910 and into the fifties it seems many Juniors were sold in India. It's supposed to say Real Dietz made in America. Japanned finish is like a lacquer or shellac coating usually applied in layers dried in between. It seems it was a popular finish before enamel paints.
