Your question prompted me to do a little more internet research. A later division of the Art Deco design movement was called Streamline Moderne. It was an austere design with aerodynamic shapes most prevalent during the Great Depression of the 1930's. The style found its way into buildings such as the Chrysler Building in NYC, trains, automobiles, kitchen appliances and even lanterns.
