I live in a very remote, dark area that is very bug infested in the warmer months. The lanterns provide both light and also bug protection.
The lanterns that provide the most light, and are the least hassle to keep going are a pair of WTKirkman "Champions", which I believe are a Dietz made lantern with some improvements over the original design. It uses the same globes, burners, etc as the original, so parts are no issue. I have the hooded reflectors on mine. The hood improves the light output (mine sit up on posts).
If we have a wind storm, they would be one of the the last to go out. My guess is that they are go to at least 35 MPH winds. Only my "Luck-E-Lights" seem to be able to take more wind, but they don't really product much illumination.
