I was thinking that since Dietz probably sold a lot of lanterns to the military during the war, perhaps the grey color was a military spec. But I suppose the Army would have wanted an olive drab color. The battleship grey looks right for the Navy however. Is there any information about Dietz lanterns provided to the US military?
