In regards to the Elgin, those were made by Embury and according to information that gav had on this page http://www.camerasandlanterns.com/trafficgard/marks.htm ,it was made for or distributed by Sears, Roebuck & Co.
Regarding the wires not touching the globe on the D-Lite, I wouldn't question the globe especially since it is marked D-Lite. I would say the wires were bent out of shape by a previous owner in order to get the globe in and out easier. I have had a few lanterns that I have had to bend the wires back into shape on and they hold the globe like they should now. Just take your time and bend a little at a time.
