Thanks very much for the information. After a close look with a magnafying glass the date is 1903. If socket flanges are a piece of tin soldered to where the bail fits onto the air tube and holds the bail in an up right position, this lantern only has one. There is no sign of it ever having one on both sides. Also the lantern does not have a rising cone burner,it does have smooth air tubes. Thanks again
