This POR15 is really hard to predict.
I made up the post that will hold the Kirkman #2 a few days ago. I POR-15'ed only the bottom 3 feet, planning on POR-15'ing and top coating the above ground part after the bottom is planted in the ground in concrete. I was hoping that it would be easier to do it that way.
Anyway, I globbed on three thick coats of POR-15, figuring that it would run, foam, etc, but since that part was going to be in the ground I didn't care.
Amazingly enought, the coating looks perfect. No runs, no foaming, silky smooth.
I have used Urethane coatings in the past on electronic stuff I have designed for military and space use. It has always been hard to predict what it would do. POR-15 is acting about like any other Urethane coating I have ever dealt with... a total crap shoot.
But, this is a year 1900 setting that I am trying to re-create, so I am not panicking at all ;-)
I should have some pictures of some sort of progress to post b Sunday evening.
Rick
