I put dark green two part POR15 topcoat onto both the Kirkman #2 and the steel railing tonight. The POR15 web site says that it will even out and look fine if brushed on. Don't believe it. It is marketing hype. It looks like any other brushed on paint job. Lots of runs and such.
The lantern will look fine from a few feet away in the evening. Close inspection makes it look pretty poo-poo-ish. It is possible that spraying it would make it look way better but spraying POR15 without proper breathing equipment is dangerous.
As far as the railing goes, it looks about like one would expect from something that was painted with a brush in 1900, so I am fine with it. I wish the beautiful lantern came out a bit better. Hopefully at least the paint will stay put and protect the lantern for the next 100 years or so.
I will be taking and posting more pictures Sunday night. If the weather co-operates they should show a bit of significant progress.
Rick
