Hi Steve,
We are creating history every day. As a highway engineer I have taken interest in the traffic control methods of the past. I started my career in 1976 so our highway department was well into battery powered flashing lights by then; but I do remember the torches and lanterns at construction sites in the 50's and 60's. We have now progressed to flashing lights with solar cells and storage batteries. Also changeable message signs and orange barrels instead of barricades. Traffic control is an ever changing item as new ways are constantly being developed to improve work zone safety. Cheers! David
