BobbyB sent me some old Adlake wicks. They both measured .084. I got my hands on an old Dietz burner with what I believe is an original wick... it measured .084. Apparently in the olden days the wicks were thick.
I posted a few videos on YOUTUBE of a stock and a furnace cement modified Adlake burner runing both at 3/4 inch flame and also turned way down.
The 3/4 inch flame videos tended to saturate my camera, so the flicker was worse that the video shows. The "turned down" videos are a good demonstraion of what I have been talking about.
