Just out of curiosity, I searched the U.S. Patent Office and found the matching patent to your piece. Patent# 1,486,840 for "Electric Lantern", March 11, 1924 by Henry B. Patch for the Genesy Electric Lantern Co. You can find it easily at the Google patent search page.
