This type of loc-nob globe with the locking ring completely encircling the globe appears in the patent drawings of F.W. Van Duyn for patent no. 1476117 issued December 4, 1923. Go to google patent search and enter the patent number. You will find the drawings there and they are exactly like your globe. Woody Kirkman also has reference to this patent on his website under the link for lantern patent information.
