I have seen several lanterns for sale on ebay (usually really nices ones unfortunately) that have a 3/8 inch hole drilled thru the center of the lid.
A couple of recent examples seen were not one, but two brass navy standard vestas and also a dietz steel clad.
Does anyone have any clue as to why someone would drill a 3/8 inch hole thru the center of a lantern lid?
