This lantern has a brass crown, but the rest of it is tin with patina. And while it is a nice example, the reason it sold for what it did is the matching "D&RGRR" markings on both the globe and frame. Pre-1900 railroads of Colorado have a huge following, and command about the highest prices of all railroad lanterns. I know of a similar lantern with "DSP&PRR" markings for the Denver, Southpark and Pacific Railroad that sold for around $15K a few years ago.
