Dave, gav mentions this combination of a hasp on the font and an odd-shaped hook on the bail in the Other Lanterns section of his Traffic Gard Website. I believe these accessories were for securing a Handlan 2000 to a truck bed or other vertical surface. Although the ebay picture does not show the hasp, the seller describes a hinge attached to the font. I have seen pictures of other 2000's with the same style hook and hasp combination. The Handlan 2500 was designed specifically to be a truck-mounted lantern.
