I haven`t added water to blood but I do add water to my liver blood. I am currently training two more dogs and this past deer season I collected alot of deer livers from the deer coolers. I cut up the liver in pieces about the size of a slice of pie. I frezze it in packs of 3 pieces per pack. and when I need blood to lay a trail I set out a pack and when it gets soft I blend up two of the pieces real fine and then I add water as needed I want it where it will soak into a sponge or I can drop it out of a drop bottle. I save one piece which I cut up into little pieces to put at the start of the trail and at the end. Liver makes great blood and one liver makes alot of blood. You can also drag a small piece of liver to lay a trail. Liver has a strong smell. Dogs love deer liver. Liver will frezze good and last a long time in the frezzer.
