When you say you start fighting him and that is when he looses the track do you mean you see the blod but the dog wants to go in another direction? It could be that he is working the down wind side of the track and is still really on it. It could also be that he has air scented it and is working the air to the deer. Work some artifical tracks this summer to get use to the dog and learn his ques that he throws when he is on track. Also what state are you in?
