Dear Sir,
I am the present secretary of the Leinster Branch of the Irish Deer Society, www.irishdeersociety.ie and I wish to develope the need and understanding for tracking dog if stalking deer.
The eithical requirement to minimise seffering to a wounder animal is a must for deer stalkers and I would wish to set up a basis course to educate stalkers to the need for a tracking dog. Part of the instruction would be an insrurucion on hoe to start to train their tracking dogs and also on which type of dogs are more suitable that others.
My personal background is training gundogs, www.tobyhillgundogs.com but I prefer the european blood dogs for this type of work.
Perhaps you may assist me in getting the necessary information to my members, as pressure on hunting espically where large animals are concerned is increasing to ensure that there is no unnecessary suffering to an already wounder animal.
Kind Regards
Larry Taaffe
