Hi,
I'm new to the board and have just recently relocated to an area where a tracking dog would be an asset . First of all I live in Texas and have always hunted a part of the state where tracking was pretty easy . As I said I've recently moved to and started hunting in an area where the cover is extreamly heavy . I've always kept and loved sporting dogs . In my life I've had the pleasure to own two GSP's , one english pointer , two Lab's and I currently have a GWP female who is four years old and has recently shown sings of gun shyness . I don't feel this is a gun related condition . One of my GSP's developed a fear of thunder and fireworks . I tried to isolate him from it but you can imagine how effective that was . He was a large male and started to wreck the joint . The Pointer and GWP witnessed it and I'm inclined to think that it's a learned response . Before the GSP started to suffer from this condition everyone was steady as a rock . Now my Pointer and my GWP are showing signs of it . I luv my GWP so much and don't want to exclude her from my outdoor activities . She's just such a pleasure to be with . I know that everyone has the smartest and best dog and I'm no exception . O.K. heres's what I'm thinking , if there is anyone that has had a problem like this and corrected it , I'm all ears . However if it cant't be corrected I'm thinking that because of her desire to hunt , she's a good candidate for a blood tracker . Incidentally I did'nt set the fireworks off and I certainly had nothing to do with the thunder . In the future I'll gladlly move her to a remote location when possiable . I'm sorry this turned into such a long explanation but I need help and wanted to give folks all the facts . Any feedback will be appreciated .
Thanks !!!!
