I have a 4 year old mini Dachshund that has a problem. She's obsessed with chasing down rodents in the backyard, and has even caught and killed a fewyoung rabbits and on one occation I caught her "playing" with a wounded rat. I live inside a suburban area that has been developed from farm land.
I enjoyed watching my dog case out all manner of small animals from the yard, durring hours I am awake. Her Obsession has become almost a 24hr ordeal, often she will spend the night watching out the back sliding glass door for all manners of "varmits" and making it known that she has not only spotted possums, rats, and rabbits from her view point, but she demands vocally to be let outside to chase them down, and will follow their scent lines in the yard for some time after the animal is gone.
This sometimes goes on durring ALL hours of the late night and early morning while everyone in the house is trying to sleep for work the next day.
Does anyone have ideas on how to deal with this issue?
