tracking after a rain is good because blood is like oil and when it gets wet you will have a bigger spot . as for stressed deer when you shot one it is stressed and it will give off a different smell . this is how your dog can pick out a deer that is wounded even if there were 10 deer standing around a feeder . so the hoofs and blood will have it's on smell so the dog knows which one to follow .best way to do a good practice trail is to go to where the deer are . best places close to home would be the parks . some parks have so many deer that you can get on a deer trail and lay the track there . it is best to use track shoes and walk right through the deer trails and lay your track . make the dog go over blown down trees , cross creeks and roads so you dog will be used to anything in front of them so they will follow where ever the deer goes .
