sometimes without you knowing it you might think the deer is going 1 way and you start making the dog go in the direction because you get to leading them . if the dog is in a harness you will watch them move more and really stay on the deer . the collar will hang on bush more . you can do it both ways . but for long tracks maybe you would do better with the harness . they sell a collar with a swiveling eyelet .
