Robin, I raise wirehair doxys for bloodtracking and start them at 4-5wks on 'puppy drags' and I recomemnd once a week to my new owners, anymore often may tend to instill boredom and lack of interest. I don't know the attitude of a Jack Russel but certainly I think the sooner you start training the better. Start with small easy drags then increase the size and time after you lay the line that you take the dog out. Good luck!
