It seems as though everybody is reluctant to make a claim as to what dogs might be best. I know there are many variables with each dog let alone each breed. However, you wouldnt cut a piece of plywood with a jachammer, right? Maybe this is a poor analogy, but it seems as though the predominant dog is the wire. dach.My questions are these, can a dog be addopted from the pound, say a basset and turn out to be good even though it may get a late start? How late is too late? I also have an opportunity to pick a beagle pup from a reputable breeder with very good hunting stock, would this be a good choice? Or should I just get "the right tool for the job?" a wirehair. How much do they cost as this may influence my decision. Thank you!!!
