Well, yes and no.
M-16, that it probably could float, provided certain conditions existed. First, it would need
to have an empty or near empty magazine. A full mag would be heavy enough to sink it.
Also, it would need to hit the water on it's side, thereby maximizing the surface area. Going in any other way, and it's straight to the bottom.
