Posted by Lindy`` on 12/7/2006, 4:37 am, in reply to "Re: SEAT BELTS!" I have had a rather serious car accident myself in the past, and I know what a scary thing it is to go thru. And like you, the police/ambulance guys who attended said it was a miracle that my mum, my sister and I survived. They later told us, had we not been wearing our seatbelts, we would more than likely have been killed. You take good care henri. --Previous Message--
I am so glad you are ok Henri.
*hugs you gently*
Sounds like you were definitely touched by an angel. *hugs John Dye*
And the really stupid thing is, that afterwards, I was too busy feeling sorry for myself. I was like every second, complaining about my sore chest from where the seatbelt was, and cursing the whiplash I had, and I kept worrying about how much it was gonna cost to replace my car and how I was gonna get to work without it?
My Dad was so furious with me. He said "Stop worrying about the damn car and the money and just thank God you're alive. A car can always be replaced. People cant!"
And he was so right.
Life is just so so precious.

: I don't drive BUT, I do wear a seat belt.
: Those who drive me around don't start their
: vehicles until all who are in it are buckled
: up... including themselves. It is a good
: practice to get into.

: Im so glad to hear you are OK, Henri!!
:
: Youre absolutely right about seat belts - I
: remember eons ago in high school driver ed
: hearing that most accident injuries arent in
: the accident itself, but in people being
: thrown from the car. I feel naked without
: mine and usually buckle up right after I
: start the car - before putting it in gear.
: Thank all the gods you were wearing yours!
:
: I thought of you yesterday - the John Dye
: Xmas movie was on last night - and the
: sequel was on tonight. I love Tivo.

: This is not a TOD message but I feel I have
: to
: say it. Last Thursday when I was driving
: home a car hit me from the side. My car
: rolled over into a parked car. My car was
: so small the fire department had to break my
: windshield to get me out. I walked out of
: the car on my own. My message is, PLEASE
: USE YOUR SEAT BELTS! Don't think it isn't
: macho. It, along with some angels, saved my
: life. I can't stress enough how I feel.
: Everyone I tell this story is shocked. Even
: the fire department expected to find me
: dead. The last thing they expected was to
: hear me say "GET ME OUT OF HERE!".
: All I had was three cuts on my hand and that
: was from the glass as they broke it. Maybe
: it's a Christmas miracle. I don't know. I
: guess it just wasn't my time. So, please,
: heed my advice. Seat belts DO save lives.
