Posted by george on 11/21/2006, 3:10 am, in reply to "Amusing real life TOD incident" I was not in Vietnam -- I'm not that old :-) Interesting bit of trivia for you though -- approximately 30, 000 Canadians served in Vietnam (around 100 known KIA), mostly with the U.S. Marine Corps (relaxed citizenship requirements allowed this to happen). In some cases, members of the same reserve/militia regiment would join at the same time and serve together. There's a picture floating around of an artillery battery in Vietnam with a big Canadian flag planted beside one of the guns. Someday I hope it turns up on the internet.
As you will note at the start it says "This happened a couple of months after the show began
airing". This happened in the Canadian Army, which does not have a tradition of
addressing a Lieutenant as "LT".
