(Oh, I see you already did that, LOL.) You may remember him from the "Medics and guns" thread. I mean, medics and weapons, LOL. Anyway, one night, a bunch of us were on watch duty and visibility was really poor. We were just sitting there in our foxhole, a little cold, a little hungry, and a little bit grumpy because we still haven't found Ernie yet, when suddenly we notice something near the wire. Movement. Definite movement. And somebody yells, "Sapper Troll! Lay it down! Lay it down!" And we all fired away, lobbing grenades, cuttin' it loose with the '60, M-16s, Thumpers... you name it, we did it. It was very tense. After the smoke cleared from the first wave of weapons fire, it was still very tense. Nobody was saying it, but I know we were all thinking it: was he still out there? Were we gonna have to call in danger close? Or maybe make a run for the command bunker and do a re-enactment of "Under Siege?" Would we all fit in there? (There are over 8,275,000 of us, remember?) The suspense! But then a flare went up, and the moon rose from behind the trees, and we all said at the same time, "Dude, he don't look like VC to me." And George said, "I don't look like VC to me, either." At which point, we gave the order to cease fire (to ourselves, LOL, as nobody else was firing; they were either sleeping in their bunks or placing bets on this), and turned to George and said, "Okay. How about a beer, then?" roflmao And now everybody is happy again. The base probably still looks like a war zone, but, hell, who can tell? Somebody probably had to fill out the paperwork on this, but I don't think anybody got latrine duty. LOL Bet you're sorry you missed the action? Well, you can bet we're glad you're back.
Lindy, girl, you missed it. We almost had a serious catastrophe here, LOL. We almost bombed our own firebase!
