We measured it when they first decided to try this and the "Entire Track" was just short of 1,000 ft., I don't recall what it was exactly but I'm guessing 960 and change. As you know NHRA recommends that the shut down for a track should be a minimum of twice the length of the track it's self, so all things being equal, an 1/8 mile(660 ft.) track should have a shut down of 1320 ft. or a 1/4 mile, Willow at the vary best would be 300 ft. and then there is the left turn at the end. I can see how this would not be a concern for Street Cars running 13 or 14 seconds (1/4 mile time) and slower but those running in the low 12's and faster should think twice. As much as I hate say it, a 2 mile stretch in the middle of the desert with no cross streets might be a safer choice. Any rate it will be interesting to hear what you have to say latter this week. Good Luck and by all means stay SAFE!

: Well going to try it tonight and see, so far
: heard that no one has had a issue shutting
: down or trying to get off the track, talk to
: some of the guys at R&E they took some
: dragsters out there. And its racing to 1000
: ft, there should be plenty of room, even
: Pomona has one of the shortest shut downs,
: pass the strip and hit the brakes. The way I
: see it, they arent going to get any or do
: improvements unless they get racer feedback,
: and that will include attendance and racers,
: then they can do immprovements and open some
: money brackets, build it and they will come,
: so lets .... safety is always first of
: course but have heard other run out there
: and they had over 200 cars and things seems
: to be fine. The burn out box isnt much (yet)
: but excessive burnout is not necessary...
: you attend, watch and walk the track, then
: make the call, bottom line they wont improve
: unless there isnt a turn out. It is a start,
: for now, nice inbetween races until they
: bring it up to par, dont know yet about the
: tree and other stuff, but taking my car out
: (high 11's), if it doesnt look or feel right
: then it goes back up on the trailer, for $15
: bucks and 10 miles from the house, why not.
: The last event there, was rainined out and
: that was going to be a just look and check
: it out but today, the 8th, is the last one
: of the yr there, and they are not making up
: the rain out date. Something is better than
: nothing for now, and they would not have
: opened it up to racers vs just the kids,
: imports and the slow cars...and they do want
: racer input and they have my support. Tell
: you how it went later this week.
