OK I,ve calmed down
The thing that upsets me the most is since Ive been going to the drags I have seen Inyoken,Lions,Irwindal OCIR ,San Fernando,Fontana,Ontario,LACR,Carlsbad Terminal Island,Sata Maria close.Nothing is being built.This is the home of hot rodding and we have Barona & Bakersfield between the border and Sacramento.Tim you and the Morrocos need to talk their not giving up dispite being called con artist etc.
The reason the FAA got involed after the 2000 "Nigth of fire" race was because the next race in April rained out and was to be rerun in a couple of weeks. The reasson they got involved is because of a "Helicopter " pilot who complains about everything,dust,racing,HIS MAIL not being deliverd on time.How do I know? I was there at the Banning airport tower with John Sedlock who runs the teminal on the weekend when Owen Carder wasn't there.He got the call from the same "pilot" who complains about anything. The 2000 Night of Fire race also made enough money for the Moroccos to pay all the bills and give the Chamber of Comerce over $25,000.does that sound like a con? did the Moroccos f-up....sure.They were so enthusasticabout any little thing that they got done they wanted to share it, hence the postings about the progress.I would have gone dark and not said anything as there were people who would doom the track because of their dislike for the Moroccos.I told them if they didnt treat the racers right they could be replaced.All this time they talked about putting on monthly "special shows" PAYING RACERS! like a group of NE1 cars , Fuel Altereds,Funny cars.While their bread and butter would be the bracket racers and street cars,they wanted to bring "the show" back to so cal. Can you remember jr. fuel-jr. gas races? AA/ Gas Supercharged meets? 64 funny cars, The Nitro Championships? Jet Car Nationals,Top fuel meets?No one is going to take the ball now and from what we hear is that Merceds "Riverside Motorsports Park " isnt going to happen.Thats not a jab I wanted it to happen.Just like in 94 when Bob Sands tried to get Half Moon Bay Reopened. I was gathering petitions down here for the track ,dont belive me call Brendan Murry.The fact is now we dont even have Banning to complain about and its awfully quiet out there as I think people relize now nothing is going to happen for us racers.Fontana ...I would love to run there again and support it,Mike Rice's Daughter I hear may run it.dave Dan Danish couldnt and Partridge couldnt,not for lack of trying these guys I belive gave it there best. If Tim-Mike-John can get somthing going out in the high desert I'll be there to support it through thick and thin.As racers we need to support the efforts of getting another track.Mopar must have taking the Moroocos seriously as they were going to give them seven figuers.I dont belive Larry Minor would have made offersto be part of it if he had belived it was a con job.The fact is these two guys with nothing but a dream got more done that anyone including John Saunders could belive.They delt with the FAA, City,Mayors,the press etc along the way .It was a learning curve they had to learn quickly as who else out there could they ask. They did have Ron Colsen come out from the mid west but if you dont know who Ron Colsen is I'm wasting my time as you cant build a house if you dont know what a hammer is. I hope if somthing happens put in the high desert you guys will support it.As for me I may sell my over priced house go north to where they still have drag strips and become a greeter at Wal Mart do I can race on the weekend. Bernie went to Alabama, that little state has 24 drag strips ...go figure
We dont have to worry about Banning any longer It is not going to be built.So lets talk about the other 3 dragsrtips that we have and the 2 that are "unlimited" to run at .We'll be runnig at Bakersfield in April & May then Borona in June Maybe Fontana still not sure ,thats it no LACR, Terminal Island.Imagine 24 drag strips ,Bernie said theres one about every 59 = 75 miles...wow
