Hey Bill
Went out to Ed West house in Lake Los Angeles in Dec. for a get together of LACR families,Bernie was there,It was good to see everyone. I stopped by the track again to shoot pictures before going to Ed's.... It's all gone! just dirt, you can make out the pits and the strip is just a dirt road now.Standing at the fence I can remember the first time I went there in the 70's"King's Antelope Valley Raceway".I can "remember" my first pass there, winning there, loosing there, blowing up a trans in the final round of NE1 at an ANRA event, getting oiled in on the top end & changing lanes blind & ending up in the dirt, rippimg off parachutes on the gaurdrail at speed from the wind,2+ decades of the "Hangovers",Fire burnouts,Smokey Joe's last 4.78 @ 337+ I was there his 60' was .836! NO FACTORING OF THE ALTITUDE!.I remember Wild Bill Alexander getting back into Bruce Walkers "Class of 64" front motor dragster for the 1st time in 30 years, when Bruce's back was hurt.Jimmy Boyd & Tom Hunnictt in a Iron 392 frt motor T/F car testing, the first I'd seen at a track in 20+ years.Jim Davis smoking the hides,Gerry Stiener (Panzer Man) in the 554 Coupe,Paul Gommi's Injected T/F car, FUEL ALTERED RACES!,The Fox Hunt,Jet Car Nationals, racing in Jr Fuel against other Jr Fuel cars with NITRO in our tanks!,cutting a good light,"Snoozing",Push Starts,Gary Teching my car, The Iwindale.San Fernando & Lions reuions,Front Engine Top Fuel cars filling the lanes,NDRA,ADRA,ANRA,NHRA,WCTA,"Bernie burgers"|(THE BEST!), when the "Dragster pits" were at the top end, packing up to go to "the Bernieplex",my first trophy, the first time I got paid to run,Bernie signing my NHRA license, getting to anounce in the tower, days before the mx track, the stands filled to capacity, snow, rain, dust storms, cold nights, hot days, perfect days.DAYS WITH MY FRIENDS! and remembering those who have on days before us.
