Hey Rodger:
It broke ground in 1963 and opened to the public in 1964. Back then it was "Palmdale International Raceway", we would race till one or two in the morning sleep at the track and get up the next morning and do it again.
I was 16 years old back then and San Fernando Drags was our home track, it was a long trip from the San Fernando Valley to Palmdale, the only way there was Sierra Highway one lane in each direction.
