If you did not make it, where are you getting the stories of it being a good day / prep?
My times got worse and worse as the hours came by, not only because of the DA, but there were alot of rookies with nothing but OEM tires.
Alan that runs the private event is a nice person, but he seems to lack any control over the track.
First there were about 15 cars that arrived before 8am, which Fontana Security Guards were nice enough to let them in and wait. There was no Tech personal available till after 9am...in which we were supposed to be up and running and to make it worse, the one Tech had no idea about cars and let alone work in a fast pace. Shit Bud used to go through twice the number of cars faster then this newbie tech guy.
So by 10:50am or so, they finally started to run the event with eight freaking lanes! My friend and I were the first to line up and almost the last to run in which Pat McSwain blew a raditor hose and my friend almost nearly crashed! That isnt even the worst part of it, the guy that normally teched at Fontana was sitting on his ass when my friend warned him about possible issues with the racing surface and they did nothing. Lucky for them that they finally did stop the cars before the 8.8 sec mustang made a pass on that same lane!
If you have street tires and dont have a clue about drag racing... $100.00 might be worth it, or maybe the non DOT slicks could get a decent bite, but it sucked IMHO.
I'll stick with the Pro at Famoso, unless Alternative Motorsports and Fontana get their shit out of their asses.
