
Posted by Tim - LACR on 9/8/2007, 12:02 pm Information and Statement Pertaining to the Death of Irwindale Speedway Drag Racer Ed Conrad IRWINDALE, Calif. (September 7, 2007) – Ed Conrad, age 62, a resident of Gardena, Calif. who competed in drag racing competition at Irwindale speedway’s drag strip died last night. Conrad was preparing to compete in the Speedway’s drag strip test and tune activity and went in to apparent cardiac arrest while conducting his staging activities. The incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. and Conrad was taken to Methodist Hospital in Arcadia were he was pronounced dead. "We are obviously shocked and saddened by Ed Conrad’s death," said Bob DeFazio General Manager of Irwindale Speedway. "Ed was a long-time participant of our drag racing program and was well known and admired by the other competitors. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family." Funeral arrangements for Conrad are pending. What can I say, I new Ed for 16 years, he was a long time LACR Racer and we will all miss him. To his family my thoughts and prayers are with you. I only hope that when it's my time to go that I leave doinging somthing that I love. ...God Speed Eddie
