Been looking everywhere for the lyrics to tha old ballad that my mama name me after and she use to sing it all the time but I jsut can't get all the right lyric please could you help me my children and grandkids are just dying to have it also...please and thank you..goes like this..
In scarlett town where I was born there was a fair maid dwelling and boys all came from miles around and courted Barbie Allen
Now sweet william came into it somehow
'she love him...Sweet william died for me today ill die for him tomorrow...oh mama dig my grave dig it both long and narrow then
they were buried together and '
On williams grave grew a red red rose
On barbies grew a briar they grew and tied by the true loves side til they could grow no highter...all I can rememer but I would be so apperciative it anyones knows the words to the old old Ballad...please and thank you
Barbie Allen
