Just like last year I had to rescue a baby bunny only this time it wasn't 3 babies. I came home last night from running errands and put my bundles down in front of my door so that I could unlock it and something caught my eye in the left corner in front of my door. I thought it was a shadow, then I thought it was a frog but it was a baby bunny. Unlike my patio he could have hopped back up the stairs but I couldn't leave him there so he led me a merry chase around the lobby (but not like last year's with the 3 on my patio) but I scooped him up. He was hollering at the top of his lungs. I went up the stairs to the landing and started down the stairs to the sidewalk to walk him over to the side yard but I didn't have to. For some reason I looked to the right in front of my unit and there was mommy! So I scooted him over and they were reunited. I was amazed. She just stayed there and didn't run away. Just calmly waited, like she knew that I was returning her baby to safety.

Ooh, I love stories like that one with a happy ending! I can just imagine that baby when he saw Mama! Thanks!
Also, it occurred that it could very well be one of the 3 babies that I rescued last year who's a new mommy this year. Maybe she remembered me. I tell you I got more exercise trying to rescue them than I can shake a stick at. They kept hopping back into my patio overflow drain because they were small enough to fit. I finally flung my purse in front of the opening when they had finally come out and were wandering around the patio and the throw landed the purse just right, squarely in front of the opening, blocking it. Then it took me practically a half-hour chasing them around to scoop them up and put them in the side yard. I just kep at it to tire them out. By the time I got done I don't know who was more tired, them or me.
