Dear Michelle, your words were so very insightful and true. Trying to accept the loss of a loved one, no matter the species, feels as if your heart has been ripped asunder. You realize that you have lost a very vital part of yourself. There is no "pain pill" that will ease such loss and pain. We must find a way to cope with such loss within ourselves as we all grieve in our own way. My heart aches for you as such emptiness seems to leave such a loss to our soul. We yearn for the touch of their feathers against our face and lips. The little sounds they make or their yell for us to come play with them. It is the cost of love. My heart aches for you as I know that pain but try to think only of the wonderful days, nights and years you knew that special love that was yours. My heart aches for you.
