Posted by Edna V. Concepcion In response to your query, may I suggest that you probably could get in touch with the President of the Association of Thomasites Descendants, Mr. Joselito Aseniero. His e-mail address is posted on the message board. I myself is a descendant of a Thomasite from Benton, Pennsylvania and was one of those on board the USS Thomas which arrived in the Philippines on August 23, 1901. His name is Thomas Henry Edwards. Would you at least know if he was on board the said ship, or on the Sheridan and or the Gaelic? As of this writing, I could try to find out if the name of your grandfather, Mr. Carl M. Moore is among those in the Log of the USS Thomas, which the American Studies Association of the Philippines in coordination with the US Embassy here in Manila generously had the log book reprinted and was distributed during the Centennial Celebration which culminated on 23 August 2001. I sincerely hope that your quest for more information on your grandfather shall come to a fruition, where he was assigned to teach in the Philippines, and other pertinent data that you would wish to acquire. It certainly is admirable on your part, if I may say so, that just like me, our desire to search for information on our forebearers shall also be for the benefit of our children and or grandchildren. Sincerely yours,
