Posted by JOSELITO ASENIERO The Association of Thomasite Descendants wishes to invite you to join us in a "Dinner-Concert for the Thomasites" to be held at the Manila Yacht Club during the Thomasites Centennial celebration on August 23, 2001 at 7:00 o'clock in the evening. Let us come together to remember and honor the Thomasites, those American teachers who disembarked in Manila on August 23, 1901 from the US transport ship "Thomas" and the two other ships that followed, the Gaelic and the Sheridan. To a great extent it is to these pioneer teachers we owe the Philippine public school educational system that has served as a foundation for our nation building in the last 100 years. Your presence will insure the success of this dinner-affair of songs and operatic arias to be rendered by some of our famous artists. There will be cover charge of P600.00 per person for the complete dinner course. For the Association to balance the cost of the Dinner-Concert at P600.00/ person, we need to sell at least 80 tickets, I would therefore ask you to feel free to invite your friends and relatives to join the affair at the same service charge.
