Hi! I am also a descendant of a Thomasite. My great grandfather was a Thomasite detailed in Malalang Ilagan, Isabela. We are having a hard time finding the real surname. In my mother's birth certificate's record showed MAUFIT. And there's been rumors that it was mispelled or it's wrong at all. Because during that time no filipinos having a hard time understanding Eeenglish language and don't know how to write and read. Relatives and neighbors from Malalang Ilagan, Isabela also told my mother that the surname sounded like Maverick, Mavetti, or Moffet. My mother's can't quite sure about it. Her father Jose Maufit, (who married my grandmother Filomena Maufit,) is the son of a Thomasite. And we lost communications to our relatives soon after my grandmother migrated to the United States. Actually, I didn't met or remember our relatives there coz I've been to Isabela once during my early childhood days.
