My personal favourite is the opening music to Pogles' Wood whose ethereal fairyland tones was - & is - an invitation into a world of magic & warmth. The music along with the puppets, the realistic seeming setting of the constructed beech tree area, the great animation & the use of actual real rural locations as well all combine to create an organic imagined world; one which is both otherworldly & real & cosy all at the same time ! I'm hoping that the DVD - out end of year or earlyish next year apparently - will include the 16 episodes which have never been released so far, as well as the 10 which have had vhs releases ( not including the 6 released under the title "The Pogles" ). Fingers crossed ! ) "Pogles Wood" is my all-time favourite childrens' TV program, but as you say Anita, the vital contribution of the music element is true in so many others such as the sublime Bagpuss which you mention, & Mr Benn, Roobarb, Noggin The Nog, Clangers, Pingwings & so on. The b/w 1965 Robinson Crusoe is another classic example - rightly famous for the evocativeness & deep emotional resonance of its musical themes...
